Panchayat violence continues as 2nd phase poll approaches

Incidents of violence have been making headlines these days as the Panchayat Polls are being held in Assam. Miscreants set ablaze a vehicle on fire on Thursday that went for Panchayat Election Campaign in Hailakandi's Visingsa.

Miscreants set an Assam Gana Parishad's vehicle on fire that went for campaigning at around 10pm on Thursday. The vehicle reportedly belonged to a ZPC candidate Osman Gani Laskar. The driver of the car is still missing.

On the other hand in Nagaon's Samguri, miscreants attacked a BJP leaders house on Thursday midnight. The BJP leader Hasan Ali' house was attacked that injured three members of the family. The miscreants also vandalized the leaders house and vehicle.

Ali also alleged that the miscreants came in with guns and other weapons and looted money.Later, Police and Para military arrived at the spot and took stock of the matter. Police have arrested two in connection with the attack, Imtaz Ali and Mohammad Ahadul Ali.

The second phase of the election is set to be held in 9428 polling stations out of which 3081 are sensitive 3081 and 1666 are very sensitive A total of 35,056 candidates are in the fray of the elections on December 9.
