On Sunday, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal reviewed the progress in the construction of Bogibeel Bridge over Brahmaputra river at Dibrugarh and said it would be inaugurated this year. Sonowal urged GM of NF Railway, NHAI to complete the construction work within November 30.

He also told NF Railway to provide technical proficiency and manpower for the completion of the overbridge on time.
Sonowal said that the commitment of Prime Minister Modi to develop this NE region is reflected in the rapid completion of new Saraighat bridge and Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Setu connecting Dhola-Sadiya.

The 4.94 km bridge, work on which started in 2002, is the longest rail-cum-road bridge in India. It will connect Dhemaji and Dibrugarh districts at the north and south banks of Brahmaputra river.

Sonowal asserted that this longest rail-cum-road bridge in the country will be vital for the economic development of the region. Sonowal expressed his confidence that the bridge will be inaugurated within 2018. According to CM statement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the bridge.

MP Loksabha Rameswar Teli, MLAs Prasanta Phukan, Rituparna Baruah, Chakradhar Gogoi, Bhuban Pegu and others accompanied CM during his visit to Bogibeel bridge.
