Police Files Suo Moto Case against Supari Syndicate

The Kamrupdistrict police have lodged a suo moto case against the supari syndicate in theBaihata Chariali police station that is taking place in the area. The syndicateof Burmese supari is increasing at an alarming rate.

A group of people are collecting huge amount of money from the trucks carrying Burmese supari which are parked in Baihata Chariali. These supari carrying trucks comes from Myanmar via Mizoram, Nagaland, Manipur and Barak Valley and parked in Baihata and these groups of people are collecting huge amount of money in the name of parking.

After a series of news regarding the supari syndicate gets published in the Assamese newspaper Asomiya Pratidin, the Kamrup district police have become concerned about the ongoing syndicate and lodged a suo moto case against it.

The Kamrupdistrict SP Partha Sarathi Mahanta has instructed the additional SP SanjibSaikia to investigate into the incident.

Moreover,the Kamrup district Students' Union has also submitted a memorandum to thedeputy commissioner demanding to take strict action against those who areinvolved in the supari syndicate.

Meanwhile, Kamrup SP Partha Sarathi Mahanta told reporters that the police personnel of Kamrup district are not associated with supari syndicate. "Our police personnel are not involved in supari syndicate nor in any kind of syndicate that is taking place in the state. The additional SP of Kamrup has started the investigation against the syndicate and will take strict action against it," said Mahanta.
