Police seize mangoes ripened using chemicals at Dergaon

Mangoes injected with calcium carbide have been creating panic in different parts of the state recently. In another development, a pick-up truck full of mangoes ripened using chemicals has been seized by Dergaon Police Friday night.

An operation was carried out under the supervision of Additional SP D Bora along NH 37 at Dergaon, where a Bolero pick-up truck carrying the chemically ripened mangoes was seized.

The vehicle, with registration number AS 26 C 4970, was transporting the mangoes from Siliguri to Jorhat.

The driver and his aide are now being interrogated.
