Prafulla Mahanta Blackmailing People: Ranjit Dass

Reacting on NRC, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Assam Pradesh PresidentRanjit Dass said that former Chief Minister and AGP leader Prafulla KumarMahanta is blackmailing the people of Assam in the name of foreigners'.

The BJP President said that the NRC is a waste paper adding that theparty will take further step on NRC by discussing the issue with the Union HomeMinister Amit Shah during his visit to the state on September 8.

He further said that the NRC is not at all acceptable and asked thepeople to be united regarding the issue and the BJP will also take decision onthe matter.

Criticizing Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, Dass said that how can the NRC be amilestone when a martyr's family have been excluded from it.

Mahanta, after publication of the NRC mentioned it as a milestone. "Icannot accept his comment saying the NRC as a milestone as many Assamese, Bodo,Rabha, Karbi, Bengali, Assamese Muslim names have been left out of the NRC,"said Dass.

He further stated that it is very shocking that the genuine Indiancitizens whose names have been excluded from the NRC will have to go toForeigners' Tribunals for the citizenship.

The BJP will move to Supreme Court regarding NRC, said Dass.
