Pregnant Elephant Dies During Labor in Assam’s Golaghat

In a tragic incident, a pregnant she-elephant died while giving birth to a calf that also died, forest official said.

The incident took place at Nambor - Doigrung Wildlife Sanctuary in Golaghat district.

A team of doctors along with the forest department immediately reached the spot to ascertain the cause of death of both the mother elephant and her calf.

According to preliminary investigation, it is suspected that the female elephant died due to post-partum complications.
