Mass Rally in Chaygaon
The highlight of the day will unfold in Chaygaon, where the party has scheduled a mega Congress workers’ rally from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM. The top leadership will travel by road, reaching the venue by 3:45 PM.
The rally is expected to draw large numbers of workers from Block Congress Committees (BCCs) and other grassroots units. Both Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge are likely to address the crowd, laying out the party’s vision for Assam and targeting what they describe as “misgovernance” by the BJP at both state and central levels.
This event will serve as a critical morale-booster for party workers and a signal to rivals that Congress intends to compete vigorously across all regions of Assam.
The visit, which comes shortly after a major revamp of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), is being seen as a crucial step in the party’s roadmap to counter the BJP government led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. It marks the beginning of what insiders say will be an aggressive campaign to reclaim lost ground in a state where the Congress once held sway.
