Retd. Land-Registrar Arrested From Guwahati

A retired land-registrar of Dibrugarh has been arrested from Guwahati in connection with a land document forgery case on Friday. Identified as Pranab Kumar Bora, the land-registrar was arrested by a team of Dibrugarh police.

Earlier, five more people were arrested in connection with the case. Prominent tea planter of Dibrugarh, Mrigen Jalan was one of them. The arrested other people were Swagata Kundu, Nem Chand Kejriwal Anil Kejriwal and Sharda Devi Kejriwal.

It may be mentioned here that the five accused were arrested following a complaint regarding the sale of a plot of land in the town by submitting a fake No Objection Certificate (NOC). During verification of documents, it came to light that the NOC was a forged one. A NOC having the same serial number was issued two years ago in 2017 by the revenue office signed by the additional deputy commissioner (revenue).
