The Centre has sanctioned Rs. 1232 crore towards 49 development projects includes construction and renovation of bridges, roads, and upgrading of tourist spots for the Northeastern Region.
Some of the new projects are – the Tenning to Lekie Road(37.5km) in Nagaland for Rs. 136.96 crore, to upgrade the AT Road fromTsusangra to Input Junction (26.335 km) with three bridges, and the roadconnecting Dikhou Bridge to Amguri (17.155 km) in Nagaland's Mokokchungdistrict for Rs. 59.77 crore.
Upgrading and rehabilitation of a road from Tuensang toLongleng in Nagaland for Rs. 188.61 crore, construction of Mukroh-Umsparlinking Jrikyndeng Road (15.517 km) in Meghalaya for Rs. 58.01 crore,development of an eco-tourism centre connecting from Amarpur (Fatiksagar) toChabimura in Tripura, road improvement from Gandacherra to Raishyabari for easyaccess for the tourists from Dhalai to Narikel Kunja Island in Tripura werealso part of the new projects.
Besides 36 ongoing projects under several schemes like theNon-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) Scheme, special schemes andpackages of the North Eastern Council were done at an approved cost of Rs.529.18 crore. Working on two projects for Rs. 89.63 crore has commenced andthree projects form Rs. 26.83 crore have been functional during the regime.
Under the North East State Road Improvement Project(NESRIP), sanctions have already been granted for release of Rs. 9 crores forfour new road projects.
In addition, there are – Rs. 3 crore for Garobadha to Dalu(93.5 km) Tranche-1 road in Meghalaya, Rs. 2.63 crore for Barpeta toKalitakuchi (58.5 km) Tranche-1 road in Assam, Rs. 76 lakh for Serchhip toBuarpui (55 km) Tranche-II road in Mizoram, and Rs. 2.61 crore for Udaipur(NH44) to Melaghar (20.3 km) Tranche-2 road in Tripura.
