Space Education Centre Inaugurated at Meghalaya

The Chief Minister of Meghalaya Conrad K Sangma has inaugurated the Space Education Centre and Innovation Hub (SECIH) at Shillong Science Centre near Shillong on Friday.

Conrad KSangma has said that leading economies in the world are those that are drivenby innovations.

Inauguratingthe hub, Sangma said, "Innovation drives the economy and ensures that services andproducts are delivered efficiently."

The SpaceEducation Centre and Innovation Hub is an initiative of the Centre's Departmentof Science and Technology and developed by the Union Culture Ministry'sNational Council of Science Museums.

The innovationhub has various divisions like robotics, idea lab, design studio and chemistryand biology laboratory to help students quench their thirst for science andfurther innovate and experiment. There will also be a 50-seater digitalplanetarium.

Conrad KSangma further stated that the cabinet has recently approved the Meghalaya StartUp Policy 2018 which aims at providing a push and creates a platform andecosystems for innovations to thrive.
