Section 144 Imposed In Parts of Guwahati

Assam's Kamrup Metro district administration has imposed Section 144 of CrPC in some parts of Guwahati. The areas are Bharalumukh, Fatasil Ambari, Gorchuk, and Azara Police Station, said reports.

Assembly of more than five persons has been prohibited without prior permission from the competent authorities, said reports.

The decision comes as there is anticipation of misconduct by individuals or groups in parts of West Police District of Guwahati, which is likely to disturb the normal functioning of offices, public movement, and flow of traffic.

It is also reported that groups are planning to carry out agitation or shout slogans which may breach peace and public order causing disturbance or interruption in Guwahati city, reports added.
