Three Assam Men convicted in Burdwan blast case

A NationalInvestigation Agency (NIA) court in Kolkata convicted nineteen accused personsin the sensational Burdwan Blast case on Wednesday. Out of the 19 convictedaccused three are from Assam.

Theaccused from Assam were – Shaikul Islam Khan alias Swaiful Islam Khan aliasAbdullah, Sahanur Alom alias Sahanur Alam alias Doctor and Sahidul Islam aliasSamim. Shaikul Islam Khan is the son of Siraj Khan and hails from Kahikuchiarea under Barpeta district, while Sahanur Alom is the son of Majibar Rahman ofChatla area under Barpeta district. On the other hand, Sahidul Islam is the sonof Jahruddin and hails from Rawmaripathar village in Barpeta district.

Itmay be mentioned here that on 2nd October, 2014 at about 12:15 PM, a powerfulbomb (IED) blast took place at the first floor of the rented house in the busyKhagragarh locality of Burdwan District of West Bengal.  IED had accidentally gone off at the time ofits making by the members of banned terrorist organization Jamat-ul-Mujaheedinof Bangladesh (JMB). 2 accused persons had succumbed to their injuries causeddue to bomb blast and 1 accused survived with grievous injuries.

Alsoout of 19 convicted accused, four are Bangladeshi Nationals.

The quantumof sentence will be pronounced on 30th August by the Special NIA Court.
