Two lynched by angry mob in West Garo Hills

In a sensational incident, an angry mob lynched two alleged dacoits and left another in a critical state on Friday morning in Chanangpara village under West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya. They were allegedly caught moving in a suspicious manner with daggers and rods in the car trunk.

The deceased have been identified as Mokibul Akond and Mikseng Marak of West Garo Hills. On the other hand, Bita Rabha sustained severe injuries during the attack is likely to be shifted to Goalpara for further treatment.

According to police sources, Akond succumbed on the spot, Marak lost his life upon reaching the hospital. Interestingly Akond also had an earlier case of kidnapping against him while police are now verifying if the other two also had any criminal antecedents.

"More than 3000-4000 people had gathered when our teams tried to pacify them. However they would not listen and kept hitting the suspects. We were later able to retrieve the bodies and the survivor after the mob had left," said superintendent of police, West Garo Hills, Dr MGR Kumar.
