Union Cabinet likely to pass CAB tomorrow

Amid protests by various organisations in Assam, the Union government is likely to pass the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill on Wednesday at the Union Cabinet meeting scheduled to take place at 9:30 am.

According to sources, seniorleader Rajnath Singh asked the BJP MPs to present in the Parliament in largenumbers when Union Home Minister Amit Shah tables the bill. Singh also saidthat the Bill is likely to be cleared by the Union Cabinet on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will meet the representative of All Assam Students' Union (AASU), AJYCP and other organisations on Tuesday at 8 pm. Leaders of the organisations told media that they will keep on opposing the move of the Centre to bring in the amended bill in the ongoing winter session of the Parliament.

Sources also informed that the Union Minister is likely to introduce the contentious CAB in the Rajya Sabha on the 5th of December and likely to be passed by the Upper House on 6th December. Also, the bill will be introduced in the Lok Sabha on December 9 and likely to be passed by the Lok Sabha on 10th December.
