100 Schools Across Delhi and Bengaluru Hit by Bomb Threats in One Week
A fresh wave of bomb threats rocked the national capital and Bengaluru on Friday morning, with nearly 100 schools across the two cities receiving chilling emails that sparked panic and large-scale emergency responses. While no explosives have been found so far, the series of hoax threats has sent shockwaves through parents, school administrations, and authorities.
According to reports, more than 60 schools in Delhi and at least 40 institutions in Bengaluru received near-identical emails claiming multiple explosives had been planted within classrooms. In both cities, the messages were marked by disturbing, violent language and references to mental health distress.
Coordinated Threats Across Cities
The alarming development in Bengaluru came hours after over 50 schools in Delhi, including St. Xavier’s School (Civil Lines), Richmond Global School (Paschim Vihar), Abhinav Public School, and The Sovereign School in Rohini, were targeted. This marks the fourth consecutive day of such threats being sent to Delhi schools.
In Bengaluru, bomb threat emails were received by several private schools in Rajarajeshwari Nagar and Kengeri, among others. The city police swiftly launched search operations and deployed multiple teams across affected campuses.
The email, ominously titled "Bombs inside the school", was sent from the address roadkill333@atomicmail.io and claimed that TNT (trinitrotoluene) had been hidden on school premises. The sender included gruesome threats, stating that they hoped “no one survives”, and vowed to “erase every last one” of the victims.
Inside the Disturbing Email
Authorities revealed that the email’s content was deeply violent and psychologically charged. According to ANI, one version of the email sent to a Delhi school read:
“Hello. I am writing to let you know that I have placed several explosive devices (trinitrotoluene) within school classrooms. The explosives are skillfully hidden in black plastic bags. I will gladly laugh when I watch the news, only to see parents show up and be greeted by the cold, dismembered bodies of their children.”
The sender also alluded to suicidal ideation and frustration with psychiatric care, writing:
“I truly hate my life. I will commit suicide after the news… No one has ever cared and no one ever will. You all deserve to suffer.”
Police: Threats Routed Through Dark Web
Law enforcement agencies suspect that the emails were routed through encrypted networks and VPNs, making it difficult to trace the origin. A senior Delhi Police official told PTI:
“Tracking someone on the dark web is like chasing a shadow in a room full of mirrors. The moment you think you have a lead, it vanishes behind another layer of anonymity.”
Emergency Response and Search Operations
In both Delhi and Bengaluru, bomb disposal squads and search teams rushed to the affected schools. Students and staff were evacuated as precautionary measures, while parents scrambled to reach school gates amidst the chaos.
As of Friday afternoon, no explosives had been recovered from any of the institutions. Police have continued their probe, examining server logs, email headers, and other digital footprints in coordination with cybercrime units.
Widespread Panic Despite Repeated Hoaxes
This week alone, over 100 schools across India have been targeted with similar threats, all of which have so far turned out to be hoaxes. However, the escalating frequency and intensity of the emails have amplified fear and disrupted education in a critical academic period.
Earlier in the week, at least seven schools in Delhi received bomb threats on Wednesday, followed by alerts to nearly ten other institutions, including St. Stephen’s College, on Thursday.
While the authorities continue to treat each alert with utmost seriousness, growing public concern is now also shifting toward the psychological impact on students and the urgent need for cybersecurity reforms to prevent such incidents.
