After Kerala and Assam, flood wrecks havoc in Himachal , Chattisgarh

From North to South, east to west, vast areas are currently reeling under flood water as torrential rains in the current year triggered overflow of rivers in most part of the country. This caused flash flood in many states. Till August 12, 566 lives lost due to floods since the beginning of the year.

The recent rain and floods in Kerala are testimony to the fact. In the current year so far, 155 people have died in the southern state. Over 54,000 have been rendered homeless in the August floods.

Northeastern states of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh have witnessed heavy flood this year in most parts of both the states. Human loss in Assam alone in the current flood rose to 46.

Two northern states of Himachal Pradesh and Chattisgarh experienced flood fury in the current year. In hilly Northern state of Himachal Pradesh, heavy rains wreak havoc in the Kullu region. Since years, during rainy season, flash flood is a factor that scares the residents of Himachal Pradesh's Kullu. A flash flood is a rapid flooding of low-lying areas rivers, dry lakes and basins which endangers the life of residents of the region.

Four people including three members of a family were feared dead as flash floods triggered by a cloudburst wrecked havoc in Dharampur area of Mandi district.

Himachal Pradesh government has opened up relief camps for flood affected people in the state. All concerned departments have been pressed into service of relief distribution. To avert further casualty, NDRF teams have been asked to be ready for rescue mission.

The states of Odisha and Chhattisgarh have been witnessing very good monsoon rains for the past few days. The weather forecast indicated heavy rains in both Odisha and Chattisgarh in next 48 hours. Raman Singh government has taken measures to meet any adverse situation likely to be taken place from flood fury.

Centre has extended all helps to all the flood affected states. Centre would likely to announce special pancakes to flood affected states to meet the post flood situation.
