The five-star-hotel in Chandigarh that charged actorRahul Bose Rs. 442 for two bananas has been fined Rs. 25,000 on Saturday.
According to reports, the Chandigarh Excise andTaxation department imposed the penalty the hotel. The hotel was fined forillegally levying 18 per cent tax on the fresh fruit (banana). However, freshfruits come under tax-free items and the authorities say the hotel violated therules by charging GST.
It may be mentioned here that Bose had got a taste of unreasonable pricing at the hotel and shared a video on Twitter complaining about the exorbitant bill.
