BJP Scores Perfect 100 in Seven States/UTs

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Thursday (May 23, 2019) created history by winning 353 seats out of the 542 Lok Sabha seats- elections to which were held in seven phases.

The BJP on its own won 302 seats.

Narendra Modi, thus, became the first non-Congressmen and third Prime Minister after Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi to retain power for a second term with full majority in Lok Sabha.

However, what has been astounding is the sheer dominance the saffron party had over its opponents in some of the states and union territories.

As per data, the BJP has scored a perfect 100 (percentage in terms of vote share) in seven (7) states and union territories out of the total 37 states/UTs.

The states/UTs in which the BJP completely swept the oppositions include Arunachal Pradesh, Dadra & Nagra Haveli, Gujarat, Haryana, Delhi, Tripura, and Uttarakhand.

It may also be mentioned here that in terms of vote share percentage, the saffron party scored 50 or more in nine more states and UTs.
