Two days of continuous rainfall has given rise to flood-like situation in Jammu and Kashmir, creating problems for residents as well as travelers.

Many parts of Kashmir have experienced heavy rainfall lately. The Baltal Sonamarg area in Ganderbal district and Nunwan Pahalgam area in Anantnag district have experienced torrential rains; a flood alert has been issued in Rajouri district.

Due to the inclement weather, all schools in Kashmir were declares closed on Saturday, Syed Abid Shah, Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar informed.

It may be mentioned here that, on Thursday, the rains had halted the journey of the first batch of pilgrims of Amarnath Yatra at Baltal base camps due to severe water logging.

Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra had called for an emergency meeting at his residence on Saturday to discuss the situation.
