Himachal Pradesh decides to stop semester system in UG courses

At a time when there are questions being raised on the quality of education in India, the Himachal Pradesh government has decided to put an end to the semester system in under-graduate courses and bring back the annual examination system from the coming session under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA).

Education Minister Suresh Bharadwaj said on Thursday that the decision has been taken on the recommendation made by a review committee headed by former Vice-Chancellor Sunil Gupta.

The minister asserting that the government strives on qualitative improvement in education said that a decision has also been taken to start nursery classes in 3,000 schools from the current year.
