Jammu and Kashmir Resumes Normal Life

Prohibitory orders under CrPC Section 144 hasbeen lifted in Jammu and curfew was relaxed in Doda and Kishtwar districts onFriday, paving the way for resumption of normal activities that were badly hitafter special status of Jammu and Kashmir was abrogated.

According to officials, the situation inKathua, Samba and Udhampur districts was largely normal and most of theeducational institutions there reopened on Friday.

The officials further informed thatrestrictions, however, continued to be in place in Poonch, Rajouri and Rambandistricts.

The district administration of Jammu withdrewprohibitory orders under CrPC Section 144 on Friday that was imposed on August5 in view of the Centre's move of scrapping Article 370 of the Constitution.

According to the order issued by JammuDistrict Magistrate Sushma Chauhan, all schools, colleges and academic institutionsmay resume their functioning normally from Saturday (August 10).

Kishtwar District Development Commissioner,Angrez Singh Rana said that the curfew was relaxed for one hour in a phasedmanner in different parts of the town for the first time since its impositionon Monday.

Rana while quoted by PTI, said that Fridayprayers passed off peacefully across the district. The curfew was first relaxedin areas falling under Kudleed, Wasar, Sangrambhata and Girinagar from 4 pm to5 pm and then relaxed in Pachhal-A, Pochal-B, Hatta, Sarkoot and BhagwanMohalla areas from 6 pm to 7 pm.

He further stated that the situation remainpeaceful adding that the curfew will be relaxed in other parts of the town andits adjacent areas on Saturday.

The officials also informed that the curfewwas also relaxed in Bhadarwah town and its adjoining areas in Doda district ina phased manner.
