Afterlosing the trust vote in the Karnataka Assembly, Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamysubmitted his resignation letter to Governor Vajubhai Vala at Raj Bhavan onTuesday evening.

Uponaccepting Kumaraswamy's resignation, Governor Vajubhai Vala told him tocontinue as the caretaker CM of the State, till a new government takes over.However, Kumaraswamy could not take any executive decisions during this period.
Meanwhile,BS Yeddyurappa-led BJP is now likely to stake claim to form the government.According to reports, the party's final call will only be known after itslegislature party meeting on Wednesday.
Onthe other hand, after losing the trust vote, HD Kumaraswamy said, "I am totallyrelieved and the happiest person in the world now. I will not retire and willfight back. Let us see."
Interestingly,BSP supremo Mayawati has expelled BSP MLA N Mahesh after he abstained fromvoting during the floor test. She had directed the MLA to vote in favour of HDKumaraswamy.
