In an unfortunate incident, a Manipur woman was killed after she fell out of a moving autorickshaw while fighting off bike-borne mobile thieves in Maharashtra's Thane.

The victim was identified as one Kanmila Arangsew Raising (27). She worked at a spa salon in Viviana Mall located in Thane.

On Thursday evening, Kanmila and one her friend were returning home from work in an autorickshaw when suddenly two bike-borne tried to snatch her mobile phone.

Not giving up, Kanmila tried to fight off the thieves but unfortunately fell of the running autorickshaw injuring her head.

Kanmila's friend rushed her to the Highway hospital soon after but doctors referred her to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj hospital nearby in Kalwe. She was however declared dead during treatment around 9:40 PM.

Meanwhile, the two thieves who sped off after the incident, were later nabbed by police in their hideout in Bhiwandi.

A case has been registered against the duo under IPC sections pertaining to robbery, conspiracy and culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

Kanmila, who returned to Mumbai early this week to start her new job at the spa salon, was in Manipur since three months due to lockdown.
