Mumbai Drugs Case: NCB Witness, “Private Investigator” Kiran Gosavi Detained In Pune

Kiran Gosavi, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) witness and "private investigator" in the cruise party drugs case has been detained in Maharashtra's Pune.

He has been detained three days after he said that he would surrender at a police station in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow.

"Kiran Gosavi has been detained," said Pune Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta on Thursday.

Gosavi, said to be a "private investigator" whose photos and videos with Aryan Khan went viral on social media after the NCB's raid on the cruise ship off the Mumbai coast on October 2, had been absconding.

Gosavi was apparently present during the cruise ship raid and was seen at the NCB office when Aryan Khan was taken there.

Meanwhile, NCB has called Gosavi an "independent witness"

On May 2018, a case was registered against Gosavi with Faraskhana police station of Pune city for allegedly committing fraud by promising a person a job in Malaysia by taking money.

He however did not offer any job to the complainant not returned the money. Gosavi was booked under sections 419, 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) along with relevant sections of the Intellectual Technology (IT) Act.

Chargesheet was filed in the court as the accused was not found. He is still wanted in the case.

Additionally, a case of fraud was also lodged against Gosavi on October 18. Police said he had duped people of lakhs of rupees on the pretext of sending them abroad for jobs.
