The stage for the showdown between the Narendra Modi-led government and a united Opposition had been set after speaker Sumitra Mahajan admitted the notices for the no-confidence motion moved by several opposition parties.

In the end, the speaker asked Telugu Desam Party's Kesineni Srinivas to move the motion. Though the numbers are stacked in favour of Modi-led government, Opposition is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that this becomes another show of their unity ahead of the Lok Sabha election in 2019.

The Opposition will also eye to corner the government on issues like lynching, jobs, economy and black money among others. Stay with us for all the latest updates on the no-confidence motion.

All BJP lawmakers have been asked to have lunches and dinners together on Thursday and Friday to ensure that everyone is present for the no-confidence vote in the Lok Sabha, said top party leaders.
