Pakistan appoints new incumbent envoy to India

Pakistanon Monday appointed career diplomat Moin-ul-Haque as the High Commissioner toIndia succeeding Sohail Mehmood who left the Commissioner's post to join asPakistan's foreign secretary.

Pakistan'sForeign Minister after the approval of Prime Minister Imran Khan has announcednew envoys to India along with 18 other countries.

Mr.Moin-ul-Haque who is the current ambassador to France has also previouslyserved as the chief of protocol at the Foreign Office. He joined foreignservice of Pakistan in 1987.

ForeignMinister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi in a video statement said that "New Delhi,India, is very important. After consultation I have decided to appointMoin-ul-Haque, the current ambassador in France, who will be sent to (New)Delhi and I hope that Haque will deliver."

Theforeign minister also confirmed the other major appointments. Naghmana Hashmiwill replace Masood Khalid as the career diplomat to China, Imtiaz Ahmad hasbeen appointed as the Ambassador to Japan and Zaheer Janjua who is currentlyserving as the additional secretary to Europe will be sent to Pakistani missionin Brussels.

ThePakistani foreign minister in his tweet stated that he is hopeful that thenewly appointed ambassadors will represent Pakistan with utmost dignity andeffectiveness.
