Parliament to begin with Monsoon Session from July 18

The monsoon session of Parliament 2018 has been scheduled to be held from July 18 till August 10.

It has been slated to comprise of 18 working days. Government is set to push for Constitutional status for National Commission for OBC.

Other important bills including Triple Talaq, Transgender Bill, among others will also be brought in Parliament for passing them.

Briefing reporters after the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs in New Delhi on Monday, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar said that the government expects constructive cooperation from all political parties to make this session a productive one.

The legislative business would include the passing of six Ordinances promulgated during the inter-session period before the Monsoon Session, 2018.

The Minister said that the Government would bring important bills, including the Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty-Third Amendment) Bill, 2017, Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill, 2017, Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Bill, 2016, National Medical Commission Bill, 2017, Rights of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (Second Amendment) Bill, 2017, for consideration and passing in both the Houses of Parliament.
