Police believe Burari deaths a case of mass suicide

Two days after eleven members of a family in Delhi's Burari were found hanging in their house, police sources have declared that the deaths look like a case of mass suicide.

According to reports, Lalit Bhatia, one of the departed, may have been ailing mentally and could have directed his family to take this massive step out of the instability of his mind.

The police have cause to believe that Lalit was in touch with an occult practitioner and are probing to find evidence for the same.

"Two registers have been found, which contain details of a 'Badh Puja' ritual. It means everybody should hang like the branches of a banyan tree. The details in the registers match with the way the bodies were found – faces wrapped almost entirely, mouths taped and hands tied behind the back," a Delhi Police Crime Branch source shared.

Meanwhile, Dinesh, A family member has filed a complaint on Tuesday, dismissing suicide as a possibility.

"I filed a police complaint because this isn't a suicide case. I don't believe in media reports. They had never been in contact with any 'baba'," Dinesh said in a media statement.
