In a first after imposing restrictions in Jammu and Kashmir before withdrawing special status from the region, Congress's Rahul Gandhi among other leaders from the opposition will visit the region today.
According to a news agency PTI report, as part of the opposition all-party delegation, parties that will set foot in Srinagar are Congress, CPI-M, CPI, Rashtriya Janata Dal, Nationalist Congress Party, Trinamool Congress and DMK.
From Congress Rahul Gandhi, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Anand Sharma, CPI-M's Sitaram Yechury, CPI's D Raja, DMK's Tiruchi Siva, RJD's Manoj Jha and Dinesh Trivedi from NCP are scheduled to be part of the delegation, reported PTI.
However, the government has not allowed any leader of a political party to enter the state after imposition of restrictions.
Meanwhile on Friday, the Jammu and Kashmir Department of Information and Public Relations taking to Twitter, urged the opposition leaders to not visit Srinagar as it would "disturb the gradual restoration of normal life."

They would also be violating restrictions that are still there in many areas. Senior leaders should understand that top priority would be given to maintaining peace, order and preventing loss of human lives.
