Raksha Bandhan being celebrated across India

Raksha Bandhan is being observed across India today with great fervour and gaiety celebrating the special bond between brothers and sisters.

On this occasion, sisters tie a colorful band, known as the rakhi, around the wrist of their brothers and pray for their prosperity, health and well-being. In return, brothers pledge to protect and support their sisters and present them gifts. 

President Ram Nath Kovind wished India on this auspicious occasion.
