The Supreme Court on Monday issued a notice to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on a plea seeking the status of the investigation into a disproportionate assets case against Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav, his brother Prateek Yadav and their father Mulayam Singh Yadav.
The Apex court asked the CBI to file its response in two weeks with regard to present status of probe in the assets case against SP patriarch Mulayam Singh and his two sons.
The Supreme Court was hearing a plea filed by Political activist Vishwanath Chaturvedi seeking a direction to the probe agency to apprise the court of the status of the investigation in the case.
The case was filed in 2007 after allegation that the senior Yadav misused his office as chief minister of Uttar Pradesh to accumulate vast amounts of wealth.
