Two ISIS suspects sent to 10-day NIA remand

A Delhi court on Monday sent two ISIS suspects, arrested from Hyderabad, to ten days' National Investigation Agency (NIA) custody in a case of allegedly radicalizing Indian youngsters for carrying out terror strikes on behalf of the banned international outfit.

The court's order came after two alleged ISIS sympathizers Mohammed Abdullah Basith (24) and Mohammed Abdul Qhadeer (19) were arrested from Hyderabad.

The accused came under the radar of the security agency after it received information from a reliable source that they were associated with a group of three youths, who were arrested from Maharashtra's Nagpur airport two years back for allegedly training people to carry out terrorist attacks.

The agency produced the accused before District Judge Poonam A Bamba and sought a 15-day remand for custodial interrogation of the accused.

The NIA is probing a case since 2016 where it is alleged that the members of ISIS were involved in a conspiracy to identify, motivate, radicalise, recruit and train Indian Muslim youths on behalf of the proscribed outfit ISIS to carry out terror activities.
