Yamuna water level crosses danger mark following heavy rainfall

Yamuna River has crossed the danger mark, with 3,11,190 cusec worth of water discharge recorded on Saturday morning from Haryana's Hathini Kund Barrage.

Currently the water level of the river is at 204.96 metres. The warning level is at 204 metres and danger level at 204.83 metres.

Flood warning has been issued by the Delhi government, with strong advice of evacuation to people living in low lying areas. Sub-Divisional magistrate Arun Gupta has said that the water level may rise up to 205.4 metres.

Delhi along with adjoining areas had witnessed torrential rainfall, which triggered severe water-logging and traffic jams.

On a related note, 33 people have reportedly died in Uttar Pradesh on July 26 and 27 due to rainstorms and lightning. 23 people have been injured, 9 animals have been harmed and 104 houses damaged in rain-related events.
