Assam batsmen could not even play 29 overs on Day 1; Rajasthan on top

In yet another erratic display of batting, Assam team bundled out for just 108 runs in 28.1 overs on Day 1 of its 5th Ranji Trophy match of the 2018-19 season played in Rajasthan. At the end of day's play, Rajasthan had scored 153-2 in their 56 overs and have already taken a lead of 45 runs.

This has been the scene with Assam this season with the batting faltering more than once. Opener Pervez Aziz was dismissed in the first over and Rishav Das followed soon after. None of the batsmen could actually make an impact and the team had lost 4 wickets even before 10 overs. Arup Das and Ranjit Mali played some shots towards the end to take the team score above 100. For Rajasthan, Aniket Choudhary picked up 5 wickets. Even Rajasthan did not have a great start and lost their openers early. However, Mahipal Lomror and Robin Bist ensured they did not lose any more wickets and took the team score to 153-2.
