IPL auction: Yuvraj Unsold; Varun, Jaydev most expensive players

Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, Brendon McCullum and Martin Guptill found no takers in the first round of the IPL auction on Tuesday. Last year's most expensive Indian player Jaydev Unadkat was once again snapped up by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 8.40 crore – drop from Rs 11.5 crore the last time around.

Also earning a big fat pay cheque will be Mumbai all-rounder Shivam Dube who was taken by RCB for Rs 5 crore. Tamil Nadu mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy, too without any prior IPL experience, had many takers before KXIP made him the joint most expensive buy at Rs 8.40 crore.

The IPL auction is being held in Jaipur over a day with a maximum of 70 slots available to be filled, with 50 of those being for Indian players. KXIP entered with the maximum budget available with Rs. 36.20 crores in their purse. They released 11 players from their squad for the 2018 season, and have 15 slots to fill.

Chennai Super Kings, the defending champions, have the least budget of Rs. 8.4 crores having released just two players from their winning squad.
