Pakistan fail to qualify for WC semi-finals

Despite scoring a total of 315 runs against Bangladesh, Sarfaraz Ahmed-led Pakistan side were out the ICC Cricket World Cup race as they have failed to restrict Bangladesh to 7 runs to outclass New Zealand on the points table and secure their spot in the semi-finals.

Evenif they win on Friday, Pakistan will finish with the same number of points asNew Zealand but will have to head home as a result of their lower run-rate.

Australia, India, England and New Zealand are the four teams that have qualified for the semis. India will take on Sri Lanka, while Australia will meet South Africa on Saturday. And based on the results of both the matches, the semi-final games will be decided.

The first and fourth-placed side will meet in the first semi-final on July 9 at Old Trafford, while the second and third-placed side will play in the second semi-final on July 11 at Edgbaston.
