Rajasthan piles up huge lead as Assam struggle

Rajasthan dominated their position with some healthy batting display against Assam in their 5th Ranji Trophy match of the 2018-19 season played in Rajasthan. Rajasthan scored a massive 325 in their 1st innings in reply to Assam's 108 and gained a huge 200+ runs lead. At the end of day's play, Assam are at 109-3 in their 2nd innings and need another 108 runs to just make Rajasthan bat again.

After a disappointing Day 1 for Assam, courtesy their batsmen, the Rajasthan batsmen made things worse by scoring big. Mahipal Lomror carried his good form ahead and scored a stunning century. He was well supported by 19-year-old Salman Khan who played a gritty knock and brought up his half century as well. For Assam, Ranjit Mali took 5 wickets. Assam batsmen had a forgettable start and lost wickets in consecutive deliveries in the 2nd over with the team score at nought. Opener Pervez Aziz scored his second duck of the match. Rishav Das also could not stay longer and scored 10 runs. However, Gokul Sharma and Kunal Saikia steadied the ship and made sure that Assam do not lose any more wickets. Gokul scored an unbeaten 64 off 85 deliveries. The onus will be entirely on this duo when they come on to bat tomorrow morning.
