Ranji Trophy Day 1 Update: Assam manage to hang on at 190/7 against Services

It was a tough outing for the Assam batters in an Elite Group C encounter of the Ranji Trophy against Services as they managed a slow 190/7 at Stumps on Day 1. Services won the toss and invited Assam to bat first at the Palam A ground in New Delhi on Friday morning.

Assam openers Pallav Kumar Das (29) and Rishav Das (25) began cautiously but failed to convert their starts as the day unfolded. Services bowlers removed the Assam top order cheaply as the visitors were tottering at 96/4 in the afternoon session.

It was Gokul Sharma(49) and skipper Amit Sinha(51*) who provided some resistance as the duo stitched a fine partnership in an attempt to sail Assam's total towards a respectable score. At the end of Day's play, Sinha was accompanied by quickie Ranjit Mali(1*). For Services, seamer Pathania and leggie Muzaffaruddin Khalid grabbed two wickets each. Sachidanand Pandey was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets to his name.
