Assampugilist Shiva Thapa on Saturday won the gold in 63kg category at the VIIRepublic of Kazakhstan President's Cup 2019. Thapa was given a walkover to thegold after his opponent Kazakhstan's Zakir Safiullin could not enter the ringdue to injury.

Onthe other hand, Indian sensation Parveen settled for silver, after beingdefeated by Kazakhstan's Rimma Volosenko in the final. Earlier, in the semi-finals,the Indian young talent had defeated Women's World Championships bronzemedallist Karina Ibragimova 3-2.
Meanwhile,in 69kg, Duryodhan Singh Negi lost 1-4 to Kazakhstan's Shayken Talgat in thesemi-finals to settle for bronze, while Saweety Bora endured the same fate in75kg against Russia's Elena Gapeshina to get the bronze.
