Eminent Assamese poet Anubhav Tulsi passed away on Tuesday morning at the age of 67 following a brain stroke. He breathed his last at around 10 am at GNRC Hospital, where he had been admitted late Monday night.

Tulsi was a towering literary figure in Assam - known not just for his poetry, but also as a storyteller, editor, and film critic. His contributions since the late 20th century have played a vital role in shaping modern Assamese literature.

A postgraduate in English Literature from Gauhati University (1984), Tulsi served as a professor at Swawal Kuchi Budharam Madhab Satradhikar College until his retirement in 2018. His first poetry collection Najma marked the beginning of a prolific journey that led to 20 published poetry volumes and over 30 authored books.

His works are part of university syllabi at Gauhati University, Cotton University, and others. His poems have also appeared in publications by Oxford University Press, Penguin, Sahitya Akademi, and the National Book Trust. His writings have been translated into several languages, including German, French, Hungarian, and Uzbek.
