Bharti Airtel Chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal has expressed strong confidence in India's ability to maintain steady economic growth, even as global conditions remain uncertain due to escalating trade tensions and geopolitical conflicts.

Speaking at Airtel’s latest annual report, Mittal attributed India’s economic resilience to political stability and strong policy momentum in sectors such as infrastructure, logistics, and supply chains. These factors, he said, have helped foster a favourable investment environment and are key to positioning India as a global manufacturing hub.

Acknowledging the subdued and uneven pace of global macroeconomic growth, Mittal urged for coordinated global efforts to maintain sustainable progress. “India is likely to sustain its stable economic performance, even amid global uncertainties heightened by escalating trade tensions and ongoing conflicts. Global macroeconomic growth has been subdued, diverging sharply across regions and requiring coordinated action to ensure sustainable momentum,” he wrote.

Mittal noted that the Indian economy had shown remarkable resilience in FY25, retaining its place among the world’s fastest-growing large economies with an estimated GDP growth of 6.5%.

He also highlighted the rapid expansion of India’s digital economy, crediting widespread participation from across the ecosystem. "India's digital economy has surged ahead with double-digit growth, propelled by unprecedented digital engagement from individuals, enterprises and governments," he added.

Reiterating Airtel’s commitment to national development, Mittal said the telecom major has acted as a “determined collaborator in furthering national aspirations,” with continued investments aimed at driving digital innovation and supporting the broader multiplier effect of digital-led economic growth.

He also emphasized the company’s fiscal contributions, citing Airtel’s substantial payments to the national exchequer through both direct and indirect taxes.
