US President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced that Israel has agreed to the terms required to finalize a proposed 60-day ceasefire in Gaza. Trump also issued a stern warning to Hamas, stating that rejecting the deal would lead to harsher consequences, not improvements.
Sharing the update on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump said, “My representatives had a long and productive meeting with the Israelis today on Gaza. Israel has agreed to the necessary conditions to finalize the 60-day ceasefire, during which we will work with all parties to end the war.”
He credited Qatar and Egypt for their diplomatic efforts, noting that both nations “worked very hard to help bring peace” and will be responsible for delivering the final proposal to Hamas. “I hope, for the good of the Middle East, that Hamas takes this deal, because it will not get better — it will only get worse,” he added.
The announcement comes just days before Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s planned visit to the United States on July 7.
Despite the proposed ceasefire, Israeli airstrikes in Gaza have continued. On Monday alone, Israeli forces conducted over 50 aerial attacks, with heavy bombardment reported in eastern Gaza City. These strikes followed evacuation orders issued by the Israeli military.
According to medical sources cited by Al Jazeera, at least 68 Palestinians were killed on Sunday, including 47 in Gaza City and the northern region. The Gaza Health Ministry reports that since the conflict began, more than 56,500 people have been killed and over 133,000 injured. In contrast, Israel recorded 1,139 fatalities during the October 7 attacks, during which over 200 individuals were taken hostage.
