The arrested individuals have been identified as Monojit Mishra (31), Zaib Ahmed (19), and Pramit Mukhopadhyay (20). According to police officials, all three are either former students or staff members of the same college where the incident occurred.

As per the preliminary investigation, the assault took place between 7:30 PM and 10:50 PM on June 25 within the college compound. One of the accused is believed to have directly committed the assault, while the others played supporting roles in the crime.

The victim’s family promptly lodged a complaint, prompting the police to launch a rapid investigation. Mishra and Ahmed were apprehended near Siddhartha Shankar Roy Sishu Udyan, close to Talbagan Crossing, while Mukhopadhyay was arrested from his residence later that night.

All three suspects are expected to be produced before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) in Alipore, South 24 Parganas, where the police will seek their custody for further investigation. Officials confirmed that mobile phones of the accused have been seized and the crime scene was secured for forensic analysis.

The initial medical examination of the survivor was conducted at CNMC Hospital in Kolkata, and statements from key witnesses have been recorded. The investigation remains ongoing, with further forensic and digital evidence being examined.

The incident has triggered sharp political reactions, with the BJP criticizing the ruling Trinamool Congress over rising crime rates in the state. BJP leader Amit Malviya took to social media platform X, describing the case as “horrific” and alleging links between one of the accused and the TMC. He added, “The horror of RG Kar hasn't faded, and yet such heinous crimes continue to rise daily in Bengal.”
