At a time when several states in India have been engulfed by the annual floods, simultaneously, in Nepal, heavy rains have claimed 67 lives in the past week. Continuous heavy downpour, since Thursday, has affected normal life in 28 districts of the country.
According to reports, around 30 persons are still missing and more than 40 have been injured due to floods and landslides which has been triggered by the incessant rains.
The natural calamity has damaged houses displacing thousands of people. Transportation, electricity and water supply have also been adversely affected due to the floods and landslides.
With relief and rescue operations underway, Nepal Police along with the Army have rescued more than 1,400 people so far. It has been reported that the water level in all the major rivers is likely to remain near danger mark.
The Meteorological Forecasting Division has forecast rain at many places with chances of heavy rainfall at a few places of the eastern and central regions and at one or two places of the western region.
