Pratidin Bureau

The Madras High Court on Wednesday directed the Centre to ban the Chinese video app TikTok. The High Court in its order said that the app has "encouraged pornography".

The HC in its order also prevented the media channels from broadcasting the videos made in the app.

While hearing a petition against the app, the HC said that the children who used the app were exposed and vulnerable to various sexual predators.

Notably, TikTok has more than 54 million monthly active users in India and it allows users to create and share short videos with special effects.
