Modi biopic to hit Box Office on May 24

Pratidin Bureau

The makers of the much speculated Modi biopic announced on Friday that the film will hit the Box office, a day after declarations of results of the Lok Sabha elections, on May 24.

The Vivek Oberoi starrer, titled 'PM Narendra Modi', which was set to be released on April 11, had been banned by the Election Commission (EC) until the elections are over.

EC, in its order on the day before its release date, had imposed a ban on the film saying any such film that subserves purpose of any political entity or individual should not be displayed in the electronic media.

Expressing high hopes on the film, Producer Sandip Singh in a statement said "As a responsible citizen we respect the law of the country. After a lot of discussions and keeping the curiosity and excitement about the film in mind we have decided to release the film immediately after the Lok Sabha election results."

Further, Singh added, "We are now releasing our film on 24th May 2019. This is the first time a film will be promoted for only four days. I hope now nobody has any problem with the film and we are hoping for the smooth release this time.".

A Omung Kumar directional, apart from Vivek Oberoi, the film also features Boman Irani, Manoj Joshi, Prashant Narayanan, Zarina Wahab, Barkha Sengupta and Darshan Kumaar, among others.
