“2.6 lakh People affected by floods” – Assam’s Chief Secretary

Chief Secretary of Assam, Kumar Sanjay Krishna held a press meet on Saturday on the current flood situation of the state. He said that Brahmaputra, Puthimari and Dhansiri are flowing above the danger level, and added that 2.6 lakh people of 15 districts of Assam have been affected by the floods.

He informed that 90 relief camps have been set up across the state to provide succor to the flood-affected people.

During the meet, he also informed that the government has made an ex-gratia payment of Rupees 70,000 to the girl who was injured in yesterday's landslide. Krshna added that the PWD has been instructed to do the needful following the landslide at Raj Bhawan. He also said that arrangements have been made to move people from the landslide-prone areas of the city.
