In Northeast's first of its kind, three filmmakers have worked together to give shape to an anthology in Assamese language. The themes of the anthology are based on existentialism and loneliness.

The anthology named Never Ending Stories 'Ji Golpor Ses Nai' premiered in Guwahati in the beginning of this week. It is a collection of short stories which is tied to a single premise.

The first story has Assam as the backdrop which talks about the inexplicable influence of a person on another. 'Ardha Satya', directed by Prodyut Kumar Deka, is based on a tale written by Guy de Maupassant. It has Pankaj Mahanta and Kalpana Kalita as protagonists.

The second, 'Epitaph', directed by Prasant Saikia, has Himangshu Prasad Das playing the lead, which is adapted from one of the works of Sahitya Akademi award-winning Assamese author and journalist Homen Borgohain. The story goes deep into the life of struggling writer and his love life.

The third short, 'Prasnabudhok', is based on a story by French novelist Honore de Balzac. Directed by Utpal Datta, the film talks about the constant struggle for desired space between husband and wife.

Talking to the media, Datta pointed out that Assamese cinema took 80 years to make an anthology.

The three shorts have been produced by Pallabi Borah, Krishna Kalita and Namrata Datta.
