The Sonitpur district administration has carried out an eviction drive at Jamugurihat on Thursday and evicted some suspected people in the char areas.

A total of 426suspected families have been evicted who have encroached hundreds of bighas ofgovernment land.

Officials alleged that these families have encroached the land for long and therefore, the administration has conducted eviction drive under the leadership of Sonitpur Deputy Commissioner Manabendra Pratap Singh and Superintendent of Police Rakesh Roshan.
