ACB traps two APDCL Officials taking bribe

The anti-corruption bureau (ACB) arrested two senior government officials with the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) for accepting a bribe of Rs 80,000 for clearing the Bills of a contractor.

The officer was identified as Prakash Ranjan Dutta, Assistant general manager(T&MC Division, Tezpur), Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL).

Thepolice said the accused officer, Prakash Ranjan Dutta, told the complainanthe would clear his bills if he agreed to pay Rs 3,00,000/-.

Dutta was taken into custody, booked under section 7 of Prevention ofCorruption Act, 1988, and placed under arrest. The ACB has also arrested theSDO (Sub-divisional officer) of T&MC Division from his privateresidence in Nagaon.
